This specimen was lot 2156 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "EL SALVADOR. 250 Colones, 1977. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. 18th Annual Governor's Assembly. From a mintage of only 400 pieces. Hard mirror fields with frosted cameo devices. No spots, tone, or fog. Tied with just two other examples for finest certified. From the Richard Stuart Collection." This NCLT commemorating an event of breathless insignificance was accompanied by a silver twenty-five colones (KM 151) which was actually minted in smaller numbers.

Recorded mintage: 4,000 plus 400 proofs.

Specification: 16 g, 0.917 fine gold, .468 troy oz AGW.
