This specimen was struck for El Salvador by the Sherrit Mint of Canada, which also struck the similar 1977 issue and other Salvadoran coinage of the 1973-1994 period. Paradoxically, this coin has such a low catalog value that it is difficult to find. Dealers do not find it worthwhile to stock such items. This coin bears the portrait of Father José Matais Delgado and was struck 1970-77. He appears on later twenty-five centavos issues and several fifty centavos coins.
Recorded mintage: 20,000,000.
Specification: nickel, 2.5 g, 17.8 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 139.
