This five centavos was minted for El Salvador 1975-86. This date is a product of the Royal Mint in London, which also minted this type in 1976, 1984 and 1986. On the obverse of the coin is the image of Francisco Morazán, who defeated Guatemalan attempts to conquer Central America, thereby establishing Salvadoran independence.
Recorded mintage: 15,000,000 plus 2,000 proofs.
Specification: 5 g, copper-nickel plated steel, 23 mm diameter.
