This specimen was struck for El Salvador by the Denver mint, which also struck the similar 1969 issue and other Salvadoran coinage of the 1960's. Paradoxically, this coin has such a low catalog value that it is difficult to find. Dealers do not find it worthwhile to stock such items. This coin bears the portrait of Francisco Morazan, hero of the struggle against Guatemalan domination and was struck 1921-85. He appears on many other Salvadoran coins.
Recorded mintage: 3,000,000.
Specification: copper-nickel, 7 g, 26 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 130.
