This specimen was struck for El Salvador by the Vereingte Deutsche Metall of Germany, which also struck other Salvadoran coinage of the 1973-1994 period. Paradoxically, this coin has such a low catalog value that it is difficult to find. Dealers do not find it worthwhile to stock such items. This coin bears the portrait of Francisco Morazan, hero of the struggle for independence from Guatemala. The next issue of ten centavos (KM 155) was in 1987, in a smaller format.
Recorded mintage: 24,000,000 plus a few proofs.
Specification: copper-nickel-zinc, 7 g, 26 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 150a.
