This specimen was lot 70640 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT. 5 Pounds, AH 1410/1990. PCGS MS-68. FIFA World Cup Series. Stuck to commemorate the World Cup in Italy. Mostly released in Proof, this Mint State issue is RARELY offered at auction. With satiny surfaces and a wonderful design, this example is sure to excite bidders." The regime emitted numerous silver five pounds in 1990, including KM 679 (shown here), 682, 688, 691 and 697.

Recorded mintage: 600 plus 8,000 proofs.
