This specimen was lot 1463 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT: AR 5 pounds, 1986/AH1406, the Kaaba at Mecca, with the kalima repeated above & below in the margin, Proof." This is one of sixteen different five pound NCLT's issued in 1986. The kalima is the first of the Six Pillars of Wisdom. It reads, "لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله-- 'lā ilāha illā -llāh, muḥammadur rasūlu -llāh (There is no god but Allah, [and] Muhammad is the messenger of Allah)."
Recorded mintage: 30,000 plus proofs plus 1,600 struck in gold (KM-609a).
