Egypt 1986 pound Fr-186
This specimen was lot 1007 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,886 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Arabische Republik, seit 1971. 1 Pound 1406 AH / 1986, Universität Kairo. Fakultät des Handels. Selten. Nur 200 Exemplare geprägt. FDC. (Arab Republic of Egypt, since 1971, one pound of AH 1460/1986, university of Cairo, business school. Rare. Only 200 specimens struck. Mint State.)" This is the first we have seen of this rare NCLT yet the SCWC prices it as a bullion coin. Cairo University was found in 1908 and made a state institution in 1925. Today, it has 155,000 students.
