This specimen was lot 2994 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT: Arab Republic, AR 5 pounds, 1986/AH1406, African Soccer Championship Games, PCGS graded Proof 69 DCAM." This denomination was used for numerous NCLT's in 1986, including KM 586, 588, 589, KM 590 (shown here), 594, 601, 602, 603, 608, KM 609, 610, 614, 615, 616, 618 and 619. Most were silver but a few were struck in gold.
Recorded mintage: 5,000.
Specification: 17.5 g, 0.720 fine silver, 37 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Ibrahim El-Helw.
