This specimen was lot 3445 in Goldberg sale 90 (Los Angeles, January 2016), where it sold for $381.87. The catalog description[1] noted, "Egypt. Pound, 1980. Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated." There was a concurrent issue of gold five pounds (KM 517), gold ten pounds (KM 519), silver pound (KM 508) and copper-nickel 10 piastres (KM 504). Despite all the turmoil in the Middle East in the subsequent decades, Egypt and Israel are still at peace.
Recorded mintage: 9,500 plus 500 proofs.
Specification: 8 g, 0.875 fine gold, 0.2236 troy oz AGW.
