Denmark 1653 2 skilling

from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 10214

This specimen was lot 10214 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €480 (about US$500). The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Skilling, 1653. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik III. NGC MS-64. Excellent lustrous condition for this type. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Johan G. Guildal Collection (Private Sale-1918)." This type, with flat topped arms on the obverse, was struck 1653-55. Another two skilling (KM A190) had oval arms. Two skilling was 1/48 of a speciedaler.

Specification: 1.2 g, 0.281 fine silver, 19 mm diameter.
