Denmark 1517 skilling

from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 10025

This specimen was lot 10025 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €780 (about US$813). The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. Skilling, 1517. Malmö Mint. Christian II. NGC EF Details--Obverse Scratched. Rare type. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex. Joh. G. Guildal Collection (Private Sale-1918)." At this time one gulden was 48 skilling. Note the old fashioned "٨" in the date instead of the familiar "7". The specie daler would not appear until later.

Specification: 2.37 g, 0.375 fine silver, 26.8 mm diameter, this specimen 2.33 g.
