This specimen was lot 10028 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €1,020 (about US$1,063). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 10 Hvide, 1523. Frederik I. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. Of extraordinary beauty for type, this camp issue was struck during the siege of Copenhagen, most likely in either Roskilde or the village of Serridslev, which is now incorporated into Copenhagen. The reverse bears the Latin inscription *Deo Duce Mi[l]ites Triumphant' meaning 'With God's leadership the troops with be victorious'. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex. Frederik Chr. Bech Collection (Copenhagen 1906 and 1907), Lot# 1646." At this time one gulden was 48 skilling or 144 hvide; this odd denomination, called a lejrskilling in Numista, was worth 5/72 of a gulden. It was struck 1523-24 in many varieties. The specie daler would not appear until later.
