This specimen was lot 33626 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuba: Republic gold "Soviet/Cuban Space Flight" 100 Pesos 1980 MS69 NGC. Celebrating the Soyuz 38 mission in 1978 where Arnaldo Mendez became the first Cuban and person of African heritage in space. Struck in matte finish. From the El Don Diego Luna Collection." An early NCLT from Castro's Cuba, which issued a flood later when the shortage of foreign exchange became acute. A ten pesos in silver was also issued (KM 50).
