This specimen was lot 33718 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $198. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuba: Republic Matte Proof "Soviet-Cuban Space Flight" 10 Pesos 1980 PR69 NGC. Only 5,000 recorded in Proof, with an indeterminate number struck in Matte. Selections from the EMO Collection Cabinet." An early NCLT from Castro's Cuba, which issued a flood later when the shortage of foreign exchange became acute. A 100 pesos in gold was also issued (Fr-10).
Recorded mintage: 10,000 + 5,000 proofs + matte proofs.
