This specimen was lot 1697 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "China. 100 Yuan, 2004. Panda. In original sealed plastic holder. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. The gold panda is one of the most popular. Prior to 2001, the quarter ounce panda was denominated 25 yuan.
