China 2004 10 yuan KM-1528
The first specimen was lot 54031 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 10 Yuan, 2004. Panda Series. NGC MS-69. A brilliant prooflike strike with reflective fields and frosty devices." The second specimen was lot 74278 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[2] noted, "CHINA. Silver 10 Yuan, 2004. Panda Series. NGC MS-70. A perfect example in the eyes of NGC, this enjoyable silver issue uses cameo contrast to emphasize the different shades of a Panda's fur. Free of tone, haze, or spots." In additional to the regular silver panda shown here, the regime also issued KM 1541 (silver 10 yuan, China Construction Bank 50th anniversary) and KM 1543 (silver 10 yuan, Beijing International Coin Expo), both with pandas.
