This specimen was lot 1134 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $2,100. The catalog description[1] noted, "China-People's Republic. 500 Yuan, 2004. Weight 1 Ounce. Panda and Cub. One year type. NGC graded MS-68." The SCWC notes that large and small date varieties exist. The one ounce panda was raised from 100 yuan to 500 yuan in 2000. The platinum and palladium issues were abandoned after 2005, leaving only gold and silver.

Recorded mintage: 55,000.

Specification: 31.1 g, 0.999 fine gold.
