This specimen was lot 1696 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "China. 100 Yuan, 2003. Panda. In original sealed plastic holder. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. The gold panda is one of the most popular. Prior to 2001, the quarter ounce panda was denominated 25 yuan.

Specification: 7.78 g, 0.999 fine gold, .250 troy oz AGW.
