Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 40835

This specimen was lot 40835 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Gold 100 Yuan, 2002. Panda Series. NGC MS-68." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. This one features the panda, one of a series first issued in 1983.

Recorded mintage: 19,205.

Specification: 7.78 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.250 troy oz AGW.
