This specimen was lot 39080 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 25 Yuan, 1998. PCGS MS-68 Secure Holder. Small date. As quarter ounce Panda coins go, one of the best dates of the series. No spots, tone or fog." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. This one features the panda, one of a series first issued in 1983.
