CNG Lissner sale, lot 1390

This specimen was lot 1390 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $393.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE, Republic. 1818-present. AR 50 Centavos. Santiago mint. Dated 1870 So. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64. Choice lightly toned uncirculated." This fifty centavo piece was minted in Santiago, Chile, in 1867-72. This condor also appeared on half decimos, decimos and twenty centavos coins of the 1860's.

Recorded mintage: 271,000 (including 1870/60, 1870/68, 1870/68/7 overdates).

Specification: 12.5 g, 900 fine silver, this specimen Ø30 mm, 12.49 g, 6h axis.
