The first specimen was lot 1382 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $391. The catalog description[1] noted, "1834 IJ 2 escudos. Santiago mint. EF-45 (NGC). Types as above. Medium gold, some lustre remaining though a bit hairlined. Reverse rim nick at 7:00. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." It is the most common date of the type, which was struck 1824-27 and 1832-34. This "crossed flags" design was also used for one, four and eight escudos coins.

Specification: 6.8 g, 0.875 fine gold, .191 troy oz AGW. This specimen: 6.78 grams, 22.50 mm diameter.
