This coin was lot 9242 in Ponterio sale 150 (Los Angeles, August 2009), where it sold for $1,075.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 8 Reales, 1811-FJ. Laureate military portrait. Adjustment mark on obverse. Lightly cleaned ALMOST UNCIRCULATED/ UNCIRCULATED." The type was struck in Santiago 1810-11 only and is much rarer than the Charles IV type which preceded it or the "standard bust" type of Ferdinand VII which followed it.
Recorded mintage: 97,000.
