This specimen was lot 74142 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 1/2 Real, 1801-So AJ. Santiago Mint. Charles IV. PCGS Genuine--Bent, VG Details. From the Richard August Collection." This type was struck at Santiago 1792-1808 in limited numbers and, tho not common, is much less rare than preceding types. The SCWC notes a "broken J" variety wherein the assayer appears to read "AI" instead of "AJ".
