This specimen was lot 74073 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 4 Reales, 1798-So DA. Santiago Mint. Charles IV. PCGS Genuine--Chopmark, EF Details. From the Richard August Collection." This type was struck at Santiago 1792-1808 in limited numbers and, tho not common, is much less rare than preceding types. Despite the tiny mintage, the SCWC awards this date only a slight premium. This example realized twice the catalog value despite the chopmark.
Recorded mintage: 3,000.
Specification: 13.53 g, 0.896 fine silver.
Catalog reference: Cayón-13757, KM-60; Cal-861.
