This specimen was lot 1691 in Aureo y Calicó sale 423 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 75 € (about US$97 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1798. Carlos IV. Santiago. DA. 1 real. Graded NGC as VF Details Cleaned, no. 2892734-006. Ex Aureo 05/21/1996, no. 849. Ex Fleming Collection 06/03/2021, no. 262. Val and Mexía Collection. Scarce. BC/BC+ [fine or better]." This type was struck at Santiago 1792-1808 in limited numbers and, tho not common, is much less rare than preceding types.
Recorded mintage: 34,000 including a 1798/6 overdate.
