This specimen was lot 45546 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 2 Reales, 1792-So DA. Santiago Mint. Charles IV. NGC VG Details--Plugged. Type with bust of Charles III." This specimen is one of a type struck at Santiago 1791-92. It earns a premium as a transitional type. The standard bust of Charles IV (KM 59) was also used in 1792 and is also scarce, tho less so than this one.
Recorded mintage: 14,000 including KM 59.
