Goldberg Sale 139, lot 1654
G139-1654r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1654 in Goldberg Sale 139 (Los Angeles, June 2024), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada. 5 Dollars, 2002. Struck for the 90th Anniversary of the $5 Gold coin. Only 2,002 struck of this one year type. Pop 35; 5 in PF70UC. NGC graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo." In our ignorance, we don't see the point of issuing a coin to commemorate another coin but the RCM saw fit to accompany this with a similar gold ten dollars.

Recorded mintage: 2,002.

Specification: 8.36 g, 0.900 fine gold, 21.6 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Fr-61; KM-519.
