Canada 2002 200 dollars
This specimen was part of lot 40063 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), which sold for $14,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Impressive Collection of $200 Commemorative Issues. CANADA. Assortment of $200 Commemoratives, 1990-2012. CHOICE BRILLIANT PROOF. 21 pieces in lot. First set, 1990-2001: Fr-22; Fr-24; Fr-25; Fr-28; Fr-31; Fr-33; Fr-35; Fr-37; Fr-40; Fr-43; Fr-47; Fr-52. ...Total weight 359.94 g (11.57 troy oz) of 0.917 fine gold." The profits extracted from the manufacture and sale of NCLT's caused the Royal Canadian Mint to scramble for ever more arcane topics, including this one honoring Tom Thomson's painting, The Jack Pine. Sadly, we lack the obverse image of this coin.
Recorded mintage: 5,754.
Specification: 17.14 g, 0.917 fine gold.
