This specimen was lot 33716 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada: Elizabeth II platinum Proof 'Great Blue Heron' 300 Dollars 2002 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Royal Canadian mint. A blast white exemplar evincing neigh a blemish across its jet-black surfaces." The profits extracted from the manufacture and sale of NCLT's caused the Royal Canadian Mint to scramble for ever more arcane topics, including this platinum coin honoring the great blue heron.
