Canada 1903-H 50 cents

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70274

This specimen was lot 70274 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $408. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CANADA. 50 Cents, 1903-H. PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder. Attractive mottled tone with hints of red, gold and blue on the obverse that pop out when tilted in the light." This type is notoriously difficult to find in nice condition despite being minted in respectable numbers 1902-10. This date is scarce above Very Fine.

Recorded mintage: 140,000.

Specification: 11.62 g, 0.925 fine silver, .3456 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
