French Equatorial Africa was an administrative grouping of the various French colonies in central Africa, including Gabon, French Congo, Ubangi-Chari (now the Central African Republic) and Chad. Cameroon was added later as it was a League of Nations mandate, not a direct conquest. All obtained independence in the early 1960's and today the coinage is obsolete.
