Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1814-FR 24 mariengroschen
This specimen was lot 5565 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €300 (about US$418 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich Wilhelm, 1806-1815. 24 Mariengroschen 1814, FR. R Vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Erworben 1969 von Dr. Waldemar Wruck, Berlin. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Frederick William, 1806-15, 24 mariengroschen of 1814. Rare, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1814-15 and is rather expensive. Its silver content was 7/9 of a Prussian or Brunswick thaler (22.27 g, 0.750 fine) or 5/9 of a convention thaler (28.06 g, 0.833 fine) but the SCWC states that it was worth 2/3 of a thaler.
