Künker sale 354, lot 5563

This specimen was lot 5563 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €280 (about US$390 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich Wilhelm, 1806-1815. 1/6 Taler 1813, MC. Mit geriffeltem Rand. RR Vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Frederick William, 1806-15, one sixth thaler of 1813, with reeded edge. Very rare, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1813-14. It is considerably more expensive than the prior type (KM 1001) of 1780-1804. It is the last of this denomination from this state.
