This specimen was lot 73517 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 24 Mariengroschen (2/3 Taler), 1730-EPH. Zellerfeld Mint. August Wilhelm. PCGS AU-55. Uniform medium gray surfaces with a hint of magenta throughout and splashes of gold in protected areas. Evenly and strongly struck with a well-rendered and detailed Wild Man. Attractive. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck for August Wilhelm 1714-30. Twenty-four mariengroschen made two-thirds of a thaler or one gulden.
