Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1659 thaler Dav-6353
This specimen was lot 3556 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €410 (about US$581 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM August der Jüngere, 1635-1666. Reichstaler 1659, Zellerfeld. Feine Patina, min. Henkelspur, Felder altgeglättet, sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Augustus the Younger, 1635-66, thaler of 1659, Zellerfeld mint. Fine patina, mount mark, fields tooled, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1656-61 and 1664. It superseded Dav-6351, with the duke's bust facing left.
