Künker sale 354, lot 5435

This specimen was lot 5435 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,366 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich Ulrich, 1613-1634. 1/8 Reichstaler 1626, Zellerfeld, auf den Tod seiner Mutter Elisabeth am 19. Juli. RR Prachtexemplar. Feine Patina, vorzüglich +. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Exemplar der Slg. Elbeshausen, Auktion Westfälische Auktionsgesellschaft 68, Dortmund 2014, Nr. 132. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Frederick Ulrich, 1613-34, eighth thaler of 1626, Zellerfeld mint, on the death of the duke's mother on July 29. Very rare, choice example, fine patina, extremely fine or better.)

Elisabeth, *25.4.1573 in Koldinghaus, war die Tochter König Friedrichs II. von Dänemark. Sie vermählte sich 1590 mit Herzog Heinrich Julius. Elisabeth starb am 19. Juli 1626 in Braunschweig. (Elisabeth, born April 25, 1573 in Koldinghaus, was the daughter of King Frederick II of Denmark. She married Duke Heinrich Julius in 1590. Elisabeth died on July 19, 1626 in Braunschweig.)"

This commemorative was accompanied by a quarter thaler (KM 363), half thaler (KM 364) and single thaler (KM 365/Dav-6299).
