Künker sale 386, lot 5025

This specimen was lot 5025 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,422 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich Ulrich, 1613-1634. Reichstaler 1616, Andreasberg. Ausbeute der Grube St. Andreas. Von großer Seltenheit. Sehr schön. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Frederick Ulrich, 1613-34, thaler of 1616, Andreasberg mint, for the St. Andrew mine. Extremely rare, very fine.)"

This type, struck 1616 only, is scarce. It is not the first mining thaler from this state but it is an early one.
