This specimen was lot 22216 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH WEST AFRICA. 1/2 Penny, 1952. NGC PROOF-65 RB. Possessing impressive reflective gloss in the fields with surfaces that appear to be rather high end for the assigned grade. Ex: David Vice Collection. Ex: King's Norton Mint Collection." British West Africa comprised Gambia, Sierra Leone, Gold Coast (now Ghana) and Nigeria. The union broke up in the late fifties as the parts were granted independence. Half pennies were issued for British West Africa 1911-52 and this type ended the series.

Recorded mintage: 11,332,000 plus 27,603,000 (1952-H) plus 4,800,000 (1952-KN).
