British West Africa 1927 shilling

from Stack's Bowers October 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71165

This specimen was lot 71165 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "BRITISH WEST AFRICA. Shilling, 1927. London Mint. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. A sharply struck coin with dark brassy tone, and a few carbon spots on the obverse." This type was struck 1920-28, 1936 and is a slightly better date.

Recorded mintage: 22,248,000.
