This specimen was lot 53882 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH WEST AFRICA. 1/2 Penny, 1927. London Mint. George V. NGC SPECIMEN-64. Ex: David Vice Collection." This type was struck 1912-36. The harsh climate dictated that copper-nickel be used instead of the usual bronze.
Recorded mintage: 528,000 plus proofs, a scarce date.
