This specimen was lot 33475 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $1,201.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "British West Africa: British Colony. George V tin-brass Proof 6 Pence 1925 PR64 NGC, Royal mint London. Chromatic pastel shades ignite the surface of this piece. Extremely rare in Proof format. Ex. Arielle Collection; South Africa Mint Archives." This type was struck at London, Heaton and King's Norton (shown here) 1920, 1923-25, 1928, 1933-36 in substantial quantities but nice specimens are scarce. The prior type was billon.

Recorded mintage: 2,800,000, a common date.
