British West Africa comprised Gambia, Sierra Leone, Gold Coast (now Ghana) and Nigeria. The union broke up in the late fifties as the parts were granted independence. This specimen was lot 71160 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH WEST AFRICA. 2 Shillings, 1926. London Mint. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. A well struck coin with glossy luster and light to medium brassy color. A few minor marks are present on the bust." This type was struck 1920-28, 1936 and is a slightly better date.
