This specimen was lot 53883 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH WEST AFRICA. 1/10 Penny, 1927. London Mint. George V. NGC PROOF-64." This type was struck 1912-36 at London, Heaton and King's Norton. The harsh climate dictated that copper-nickel be used instead of the usual bronze.
Recorded mintage: 3,984,000 + proofs, a common date.
Specification: 1.72 g, copper-nickel, 20.5 mm diameter.
