This type was struck in 1990-91. It represents the second cruzado of 1989-91 (= 1,000 first cruzados = 1,000,000 second cruzeiros) which was renamed the third cruzeiro in 1990. The obverse depicts a sugar worker with his hoe. Brazil endured currency reforms in 1942, 1967, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1993 and 1994. Wikipedia comments, "Combined with all previous currency changes in the country's history, this reform [of 1994] made the new real equal to 2.75 × 1018 (2.75 quintillion) of Brazil's original réis."
