Shown is an aluminum bronze 2000 réis of the United States of Brazil. This is one of a series of circulating commemoratives issued in the 1920's and 1930's which today form an interesting but inexpensive set. This particular one commemorates president Floriano Peixoto (1839-95) and was issued 1939 only. No more of the denomination were issued prior to its abolition in 1942 with the reform of the coinage in that year.
