This specimen was lot 25005 in Heritage sale 61382 (Dallas, March 2024), where it sold for $1,260. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brazil: Afonso VI Counterstamped 200 Reis ND (1668) AG Details (Reverse Scratched) NGC, Crowned Globe (1668) on Portugal Tostao with crowned 200 Reis (1663) and Portuguese 120 Reis (1642). A piece with dense history, being counterstamped in three different occasions." The early settlers of Brazil made do with counterstamped Portuguese coins until mints were opened in the colony in the 1690's.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
