Sincona sale 101, lot 2424

This specimen was lot 2424 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 2,750 CHF (about US$4,145 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Brandenburg-Ansbach, Markgrafschaft. Karl Wilhelm Friedrich, 1723-1757. 1/2 Taler 1730, Schwabach. Auf die Einweihung der beiden neuen Justizkollegien in Ansbach. Münzmeister Johann Jakob Ebenauer, Stempelschneider Andreas und Georg Wilhelm Vestner. Geharnischtes Brustbild nach rechts. Rv. Thronende Justitia mit Schwert und Waage. Sehr selten. Fast FDC. Herrliche Patina. (Germany, margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach, Charles William Frederick, 1723-57, half thaler of 1730, Schwabach mint. Commemorating the inauguration of the two new judicial colleges in Ansbach. Mintmaster Johann Jakob Ebenauer, die cutters Andreas and Georg Wilhelm Vestner. Brandenburg-Ansbach is in central Germany just north of Bavaria. It merged with Brandenburg-Bayreuth in 1769 and was sold to Prussia in 1791. A very rare quadruple ducat (Fr-347) was struck from these dies.
