Brandenburg-Ansbach 1729 1/24 thaler
This specimen was lot 6441 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brandenburg-Ansbach. Groschen (1/24 Taler), 1729. Karl Wilhelm Friedrich (1723-57). NGC MS-65. A pleasing gem example with light attractive tone which slightly subdues the luster in the open fields." This is a one year type. It has no photo in the SCWC. The margrave often went years without issuing any coins but in 1729 he issued a suite of denominations, including a matching doppelgroschen (KM 162), quarter thaler (KM 163, 164), half thaler (KM 165), thaler (Dav-1978, -1979), ducat (KM 169) and double ducat (KM 170).
